Smaller Footprint

20ft Standard Container

The 20ft is the smaller of the two standard sizes. Inside, it measures about 19 ft 4 in long, 7 ft 9 in wide and 7 ft 10 in high, and it can be placed in spots a 40ft cannot reach.

It suits a renovation, seasonal equipment, or a business that has outgrown its back room. It needs 110 feet of straight clearance at the drop point.

Common Uses

  • ✓ Cabinet, flooring and fixture storage during a Milwaukee duplex renovation, with the box kept out of the alley approach.
  • ✓ Fencing, feed, irrigation line and replacement parts on a dairy or crop operation outside Madison.
  • ✓ Tool and copper storage for a trade crew moving between Fox Valley projects.
  • ✓ A shorter box for a wooded seasonal property where a full 40ft unloading path is not available.
  • ✓ Landscaping, snow removal and event crews storing the off-season half of their equipment.

Double the Space

40ft Standard Container

Twice the storage of a 20ft in the same width. The 40ft standard suits contractors, farms and businesses with large equipment or many pallets.

The trade is access. A 40ft needs 130 feet of straight clearance for the tilt-bed to set it down. On a constrained lot, two 20ft units may fit where one 40ft will not.

Common Uses

  • ✓ Paper converting and food production overflow around Green Bay, Appleton and Neenah.
  • ✓ Equipment, seed, fencing and shop inventory on central Wisconsin farms with a firm county-road entrance.
  • ✓ Multi-phase construction material staged beside a Madison commercial build.
  • ✓ Public works, school and nonprofit equipment storage between seasons.
  • ✓ Manufacturing supplier overflow where pallets need one dry room beside the production building.

Most Space

40ft High Cube Container

Same footprint as the standard 40ft, one foot taller: 9 ft 6 in outside and about 8 ft 10 in inside. That foot can help with tall equipment and overhead services, while insulation and a finished floor reduce the available headroom.

The extra foot suits conversions such as offices, bunkhouses, break rooms and workshops. It needs the same clearance as any 40ft: 130 feet of straight run.

Common Uses

  • ✓ Returnable packaging and racked parts near I-41 manufacturing plants in the Fox Valley.
  • ✓ Tall implements and seasonal equipment stored beside a southern Wisconsin farm shop.
  • ✓ Warehouse overflow where floor area is tight but shelving can use the added height.
  • ✓ Contractor materials organized vertically instead of spread across a jobsite.
  • ✓ Event production gear, staging and lighting cases kept dry between Wisconsin dates.

Custom

Modified Containers

A modified container starts as a standard steel box and gains the parts you need: doors, windows, insulation, electrical, climate control. The result is a weatherproof structure that can be placed wherever the delivery truck can reach.

Which modifications matter depends on where it will sit. Insulation and ventilation are decided by climate, not preference, so tell us the site and the intended use before the specification is fixed.

Common Uses

  • ✓ A heated jobsite office for a Milwaukee restoration contractor with a secure tool room.
  • ✓ A field office beside a Dane County utility, road or farm project.
  • ✓ A workshop on a western Wisconsin rural parcel with a gravel last mile.
  • ✓ An inventory room beside a Green Bay plant, warehouse or food operation.
  • ✓ A seasonal operations room for a Northwoods marina, campground or event site.

Refrigerated

Refrigerated (Reefer) Containers

A reefer is a shipping container with a refrigeration unit built into one end, holding anywhere from -25 degrees F to +70 degrees F. The insulation is part of the original build, not added afterwards, which is why it holds temperature the way a retrofitted box cannot.

Available in 20ft and 40ft. It needs a 460V 3-phase connection, or a compatible generator where 3-phase power is not on site. Confirm your power supply before ordering.

Common Uses

  • ✓ Produce and dairy staging near Green Bay, Fond du Lac and the Fox Valley.
  • ✓ Food and beverage operations handling seasonal volume at a Wisconsin plant or market.
  • ✓ Catering, festivals and event crews needing cold capacity at a temporary site.
  • ✓ Restaurant or grocery overflow during remodeling or a peak season.
  • ✓ Nursery, floral and specialty agriculture storage where temperature control protects inventory.

Not Sure Which Container Is Right?

Before You Order

Site Preparation and Delivery Clearance

Containers arrive on a tilt-bed truck. Knowing your clearance before the truck is booked is what keeps a delivery from turning into a second trip.

Required Straight Clearance

20ft
110 feet straight clearance
Measured from the drop point in a straight line
40ft
130 feet straight clearance
Standard and high cube both

Also check: at least 10 ft of width, at least 15 ft of driving height and at least 22 ft of height along the entire unloading path, plus the road surface. Gravel and dirt may be workable, but flag steep grades and soft ground before booking.
